This new pavilion property was designed by Carlos Gris Studio for Gretta Funnell as she returns from 20 years living in Malaysia, after Ray, her husband sadly passed away. She purchased an isolated piece of land in the fenlands with the hope of starting a new life living nearer her family. This simple rectangular pavilion is both classical and modernist in style and absorbs the linear and minimal tastes Gretta adopted from interiors in Kuala Lumpur.
Here at I.C.S we where asked to provide the structure for this fabulous build. As the house itself is a steel framed structure, we where able to provide our services and skills to the project. Over 150 individual pieces of construction steel where produced for immense task, maneuvering each part onto site one by one. Any project would not be a challenge without a few hurdles along the way, however, we are able to over come these and produce a glorious frame for this masterpiece. The External stairs on the project, leading from the ground floor to the open and spacious roof terrace where also manufactured off site and maneuvered into place in one section, the elegant glass balustrade really highlight the beauty of the Shou Sugi Ban cladding.
